Here at Staff Partners Mental Health, we have an exciting opportunity for Specialist Consultant Psychiatrist in Inpatient Service for Older People for an NHS hospital based in East Riding of Yorkshire.
Job Description and Key Responsibilities:
This role is a full-time permanent position. It is a 9 bedded acute admission unit for females predominantly over the age of 65, experiencing an acute change in their functional mental health needs, and CITOP provides a community alternative to admission with the facility to provide rapid and intensive support to older people with functional and organic presentation. This is an Inpatient post and the post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team providing clinical leadership within the Inpatient Services and assessments and reviews in Crises Intervention Team for Older People.Responsibilities:
As a consultant working for the CITOP Teams, you will have responsibility for the provision of safe and effective care and treatment. You will share the vision of integrated and multi-disciplinary working and actively engage in the development of the service through research and support.
The post holder would be expected to be approved as a Responsible Clinician or be willing to undertake training to obtain Section 12(2) MHA and will be expected to renew this approval according to agreed procedures.
The ability to commute within the Trusts geographical area with access to the appropriate means of transport is essential.
- Management of complex functional cases in inpatient facility and Crises Team.
- Clinical leadership of team.
- Role in assessment of referrals/admissions.
- Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
- Liaison and collaborative working with other services/agencies.
- Mental Health Act implementation.
- Multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working.
- Other clinical duties, e.g. substance misuse
Job Requirements:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment (the Trust will appoint a section12(2) to provide this role in the sector during the transition)
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
