Here at Staff Partners Mental Health, we have an exciting opportunity for a Locum Consultant Psychiatrist in CAMHS for Neurodevelopmental Team to work within an NHS service in Luton.
Job Description:
This role is a full-time Locum position based in Luton. You will be working in an CAMHS fpr Neurodevelopmental service for patients with mental illness.
Key responsibilities:- To consult to the team and other colleagues to offer psychiatric expertise and direct involvement in the areas of: assessment and diagnosis, pharmacological treatments, use of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation in the management of children and young people, and the management of complex and/or risky presentations and severe symptomatology.
- To provide clinical leadership to the Neurodevelopmental Team jointly with the non-medical Clinical Team Lead, and contribute to the planning and management of young people in need or in receipt of care
- The Consultant is not expected routinely to take on the role of care coordinator and there is a team caseload ethos. Involvement in other clinical tasks for the team (routine consultations, therapy) may be possible, but would be negotiated through job planning and would take second priority to the key psychiatric tasks.
- The Consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of patients. The consultant will liaise with CAMHS services, paediatrics, primary care, Tier 4 providers and other agencies wherever relevant and will provide consultation, advice and appropriate support to professionals in the wider network of the child, young person or family.
- To work in partnership with young people, parents and carers to develop evidence-based, effective and agreed care plans.
- Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous medical notes in line with the Trust’s record keeping policy and to contribute to audit and outcome monitoring.
- To respond to emergency presentations including Mental Health Act assessments with support from the CAMHS consultants working hours duty rota.
- To contribute to the out of hours CAMHS consultant psychiatry rota.
- To link with adult mental health services regarding the transfer of care of young people at the age of 18 years in accordance with the Trust Adolescent Transition Protocol.
- To attend the weekly multidisciplinary case discussion and formulation slots within the team meetings to provide psychiatric expertise.
- Fulfil Responsibilities as a Psychiatrist approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act 1983, where relevant
Job Requirements:
- GMC with a licence to practise
- Approved Clinician status
