Here at Staff Partners Mental Health, we have an exciting opportunity for Consultant Psychiatrist for Acute & PICU Services for a private hospital based in Nottinghamshire. 

Experience:
The postholder will hold a CCST / CCT (or equivalent) in the relevant areas of Psychiatry and will have experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties. 

Job Description:
The hospital provides female adult Acute and PICU inpatient services, delivered in partnership with our NHS partners. We now have a full time Consultant vacancy to cover the 10 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This may be subject to future change depending on the service needs of the site and skills set of the medical workforce at the time. The site receives support from an experienced Specialty Doctor  The services accepts admissions 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Responsibilities:

  • Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
  • Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
  • Supervising the process of referral and admission including contributing to preadmission assessments of young people with other team members.
  • Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of young people.
  • Contributing to management meetings and clinical governance meetings for the services provided at the hospital, and contributing to the development of service strategy.
  • Contributing to inhouse training programmes within the services and offering supervision to other members of the multi disciplinary team, particularly junior medical staff.
  • Maintaining CPD and revalidation requirements, as determined by the Royal College of Psychiatrists or other relevant statutory bodies.
  • Contributing to the development and evaluation of services in collaboration with the Lead Consultant and Clinical Service Manager.
  • Ensures the services and support provide offers good value for money and supports the overall aim of the site. 

Job Requirements:

  • MBBS or Equivalent Medical Degree and MRCPsych with s12/AC approval
  • Full GMC registration with license to practice
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Practice
  • Committed to continued professional development
  • Desirable to have had significant experience of inpatient mental health acute units.
  • Able to work collaboratively as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
