Salary: £180,880 per annumStaff Partners – Mental Health Division are recruiting for a Consultant Psychiatrist – CAMHS to join a well-established private hospital in the Chelmsford area. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to lead and shape a brand-new adolescent inpatient CAMHS ward, supporting young people aged 13–18.
This role offers the chance to build and develop a new service line within a supportive and forward-thinking clinical environment. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed, including the option to work from home one day per week.
???? About the Service
The hospital provides specialist mental health services across acute and addiction pathways and is expanding to introduce a dedicated CAMHS inpatient ward. The new service will focus on delivering high-quality, recovery-oriented care for young people within a safe and therapeutic setting.
You will play a central role in embedding a positive, collaborative culture that supports young people and their families through complex mental health challenges.
???? The Role as Consultant Psychiatrist – CAMHS, you will:
Act as Consultant and Responsible Clinician for adolescent inpatients
Lead care planning and multidisciplinary collaboration across inpatient and outpatient settings
Assess and manage complex clinical presentations
Chair MDT and CPA meetings
Liaise effectively with families, carers and external stakeholders
Provide clinical leadership alongside the Ward Manager
Ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational standards
Contribute to governance, audit, research and quality improvement initiatives
Engage in teaching, case presentations and ongoing professional development
This is a leadership-focused role requiring strong clinical expertise, resilience and a passion for delivering high-quality adolescent mental health care.
✅ What We’re Looking For
Full GMC registration with inclusion on the Specialist Register
CAMHS CCT or equivalent CESR
Approved Clinician status
Significant experience within CAMHS inpatient or community settings
Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act (MHA) and Mental Capacity Act (MCA)
Excellent clinical judgement and leadership skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
