Staff Partners Mental Health is currently recruiting for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a specialist Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CYPMHS) in Hertfordshire.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established multidisciplinary team providing specialist inpatient care for young people aged 12–18 years with eating disorders. The service delivers evidence-based, individualised treatment programmes designed to support each young person's recovery and long-term wellbeing.
The Role
As the Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide clinical leadership within the service, ensuring high standards of patient care and supporting the multidisciplinary team in delivering effective treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission.
- Conduct admission assessments and develop effective management plans.
- Assess and manage children and young people referred to the service.
- Conduct and regularly review risk assessments.
- Assess and monitor physical health needs.
- Provide leadership, supervision, reflective practice, and risk management support to key workers.
- Supervise non-training grade doctors and psychiatric trainees.
- Participate in the CYPMHS Consultant on-call rota.
- Support cross-cover arrangements for consultant colleagues during periods of leave.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with safeguarding and governance requirements.
- Develop effective working relationships with GPs, community CYPMHS teams, commissioners, and external stakeholders.
- Participate in Clinical Governance, appraisal processes, CPD activities, teaching, and service development initiatives.
- Support research and training opportunities within the service.
Requirements
- Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practise.
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Previous experience working within CYPMHS Eating Disorders services.
- Strong clinical leadership and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding, clinical governance, and high-quality patient care.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
