Sector: Private HealthcareStaff Partners Mental Health is currently recruiting for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a well-established private mental health service in the Essex area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist seeking a leadership role within a supportive multidisciplinary environment, where you can make a significant impact on patient recovery, service development, and clinical excellence.
The Role
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will:
• Provide high-quality psychiatric assessments, treatment planning, and clinical interventions for service users
• Act as the Responsible Clinician and Approved Clinician, managing a suitable caseload and fulfilling statutory responsibilities under the Mental Health Act
• Lead clinical decision-making and ensure evidence-based, recovery-focused care is delivered in line with best practice guidelines
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, care coordinators, commissioners, GPs, and other healthcare professionals
• Lead the Care Programme Approach (CPA) process and contribute to discharge planning and community integration pathways
• Support assessments for referrals and admissions to ensure appropriate service provision
• Supervise and support junior medical staff while promoting continuous learning and development
• Participate in clinical governance activities, audits, service evaluations, and quality improvement initiatives
• Contribute to strategic service development and business planning to support ongoing growth and excellence
• Participate in the senior on-call rota and provide consultant cover when requiredRequirements
• MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
• Approved Clinician Status and Section 12 Approval, or within three months of obtaining approval at the time of appointment
• Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
• Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining specialist registration
• Extensive experience within acute mental health services or comparable settings
• Excellent clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills
• Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act (MHA) and Mental Capacity Act (MCA)
• Ability to manage complex clinical presentations and make informed evidence-based decisions
• Strong leadership, communication, and multidisciplinary team working skills
• Experience working within diverse cultural environments is desirableBenefits
