Salary: Competitive + Excellent BenefitsStaff Partners - Mental Health are currently recruiting for a Forensic or General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to join a specialist secure mental health service in the Cheshire area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical leadership within a specialist inpatient service supporting adult women with complex mental health needs. You will work as part of a highly experienced multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while contributing to service development and clinical excellence.
About the Role
As the Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and the ongoing management of patients within a medium or low secure inpatient setting. You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, external stakeholders and partner agencies to ensure the highest standards of care and positive patient outcomes.
The role includes participation in the second on-call rota, with opportunities for additional voluntary on-call work.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Provide specialist psychiatric assessments and evidence-based treatment.
- Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and care planning.
- Deliver clinical leadership within a secure inpatient service.
- Undertake Mental Health Act responsibilities, including Tribunal and Hospital Manager reports.
- Carry out risk assessments and oversee patient care programmes.
- Build effective relationships with NHS partners and external stakeholders.
Service Development & Governance
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit and continuous service improvement.
- Maintain professional development and stay up to date with current psychiatric practice.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practise.
- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych).
- Inclusion on, or eligibility for, the GMC Specialist Register in Forensic Psychiatry or General Adult Psychiatry.
- Section 12 Approval and Approved Clinician Status.
- Strong clinical leadership and multidisciplinary working skills.
