Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Locum Occupational Therapist with specialised experience in Eating Disorders (ED). The successful candidate will work on our ED Daycare programme, providing expert care and support to patients. This role is for 2 days a week (15 hours), over a 12-week period, with flexibility on which days are worked.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct thorough assessments of patients with eating disorders, identifying their functional abilities, needs, and challenges.
  • Intervention Planning: Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment plans aimed at addressing the specific needs of patients with eating disorders.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide a range of therapeutic interventions, including individual and group therapy sessions, to support patients in their recovery journey.
  • Patient and Family Education: Educate patients, families, and caregivers about eating disorders, therapeutic strategies, and recovery processes.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including dietitians, psychologists, psychiatrists, and nurses, to deliver comprehensive and integrated care.
  • Program Development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the ED Daycare programme, ensuring it meets the highest standards of care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, interventions, and patient progress.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in eating disorder treatment and occupational therapy practices through continuous professional development.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration: Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience: Significant experience working with patients with eating disorders, preferably within a specialized ED programme.
  • Competencies: Proficiency in assessment, intervention, and management of patients with eating disorders.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing environments and work effectively under pressure.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced Practice: Further training or certifications in eating disorder treatment or related fields.
  • Program Development: Experience in developing and enhancing therapeutic programmes for patients with eating disorders.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to take on leadership roles within the team and contribute to service development.
