Salary: £32,000 per annumStaff Partners – Mental Health Division are recruiting for a full-time Occupational Therapist to join a private hospital in the Chelmsford area, specialising in eating disorder care. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a recovery-focused environment, supporting adults and adolescents to rebuild daily functioning, confidence, and independence.
???? About the Service
The hospital provides specialist mental health care for individuals experiencing crises related to psychosis, mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety, trauma, and eating disorders. The ward is supported by a multidisciplinary team of experienced consultant psychiatrists, specialty doctors, mental health nurses, and therapists, delivering person-centred care to maximise recovery outcomes.
???? The Role as an Occupational Therapist on the eating disorder ward, you will:
Conduct specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions for individuals with eating disorders
Focus on restoring daily functioning, promoting independence, and improving engagement in meaningful activities such as self-care, work, and leisure
Work collaboratively with psychologists, psychiatrists, dietitians, nurses, and family therapists to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans
Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions addressing meal planning, sensory regulation, emotional management, and body image rehabilitation
Support patient transitions across care settings, promoting recovery-focused routines, relapse prevention strategies, and sustainable lifestyle changes
Maintain high-quality clinical documentation and contribute to care reviews, audits, and service development
Ensure all practice aligns with HCPC standards and best-practice guidelines for eating disorder care
✅ What We’re Looking For
Recognised degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
HCPC registration
Previous experience within eating disorder services or mental health settings is highly desirable
Strong assessment, communication, and clinical reasoning skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Compassionate, recovery-focused approach with a genuine interest in supporting patients to rebuild confidence, identity, and independence
