Location: Chelmsford Area
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent – Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

Workplace Type: OnsiteStaff Partners Mental Health are currently recruiting for a Ward Manager to join a private hospital in the Chelmsford area. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity to lead a specialist private mental health ward providing high-quality care within general psychiatry and addiction treatment services.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team supporting individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges including psychosis, mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety, trauma and addiction.
The Role
As Ward Manager, you will provide strong clinical and operational leadership, ensuring safe, effective and person-centred care is delivered at all times. You will oversee the day-to-day management of the ward, staffing, governance and service quality.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the ward and resources effectively
Ensuring safe staffing levels and appropriate skill mix
Full oversight of nursing rotas, annual leave and e-rostering
Maintaining high standards of clinical care and compliance
Leading, supervising and supporting nursing and care staff
Ensuring staff receive clinical supervision, appraisals and meet CPD requirements
Monitoring and ensuring completion of mandatory training
Addressing development needs and managing performance issues
Contributing to clinical audit and service improvement initiatives
Candidate Requirements
Registered Nurse (NMC) or Registered Professional (HCPC)
Minimum two years’ supervisory or management experience in a relevant care setting
Experience within acute mental health, private mental health, or addiction services
Trained Assessor/Supervisor (or willingness to complete)
Strong leadership, organisational and decision-making skills
Experience managing rotas and staffing resources
Knowledge of clinical governance and quality improvement
Resilient, compassionate and adaptable
IT literate and committed to ongoing professional development
