Description

Staff Partner are looking for for either an emerging Specialist or an established Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join a committed and enthusiastic teams across various health and social care settings.

This position involves working at the following locations:

  • Supporting eight care homes catering to individuals with a learning disability and/or autism through a referral system. You'll rotate through these homes, delivering essential training and integrating the five good communication standards.
  • You'll be stationed at one of three wards for individuals with a learning disability and/or autism, serving as the named SLT under the supervision of an onsite highly specialist SLT. Additionally, you'll have the support of an SLT assistant.

Job Description:

As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you'll have a unique chance to contribute to the development and implementation of an evidence-based SLT service tailored to the needs of a complex client group. Working within a multidisciplinary team, your expertise will be utilized to assess, advise, and intervene with the goal of fostering, implementing, and embedding functional communication systems. This role involves substantial hands-on interaction with individuals under the care of the service. You'll also have the opportunity to train others, advocate for best practices, and uphold an inclusive communication environment.

While a postgraduate qualification in dysphagia management is preferred, the company offers accredited training in this area for personal development if needed.

We're seeking someone with:

  • HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Experience in the field of Learning Disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Mental Health Conditions.
  • Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with a focus on person-centred planning.
  • Knowledge of sensory needs and their impact on functioning and regulation.
  • Dysphagia training (preferred, with training available if necessary).
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Enthusiasm, motivation, and a strong passion for the field.
