Location: Chelmsford Area

Staff Partners Mental Health is currently recruiting for a Ward Manager – CAMHS on behalf of a private hospital in the Chelmsford area. This is an exciting opportunity to lead an established CAMHS ward supporting young people aged 13–18 within a specialist inpatient setting.

About the Role

As Ward Manager, you will provide strong clinical and operational leadership to the nursing team, ensuring high standards of patient-centred care are delivered at all times. You will oversee the effective day-to-day management of the ward, ensuring safe staffing levels, compliance, and the ongoing development of your team.

This role is ideal for a confident and compassionate leader who is passionate about supporting young people with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the ward, ensuring effective use of resources

  • Maintain safe staffing levels, skill mix, rota management, and e-rostering standards

  • Oversee annual leave planning and training arrangements

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, person-centred care

  • Provide clinical supervision, appraisals, and support CPD for nursing staff

  • Ensure completion of mandatory training

  • Address development needs and manage performance issues

  • Contribute to clinical audit, quality improvement, and service development initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • Registered Nurse with active NMC registration

  • Minimum 2 years’ supervisory/leadership experience in a relevant care setting

  • Experience within CAMHS or acute mental health services

  • Trained Assessor/Supervisor

  • Strong organisational and leadership skills

  • Experience managing rotas and staffing

  • Knowledge of clinical audit and service improvement

  • Resilient, empathetic, and committed to high-quality care

  • Computer literate and committed to ongoing professional development
